As to the steel cranks only the 429 truck motor used in the medium duty trucks had the forged steel crank. There is a lot of differences when you get into the medium duty engines. Like front timing cover, pilot bearing, harmonic dampener, motor mounts and some other stuff can't remember off the top of my head.
