I recently got wireless broadband from Verizonwireles. The modem simply plugs into the USB port. It sticks straight out and can be bumped if not careful because it's so rigid. My question is, is there like a short USB extension cable that connects in between the modem and the USB port so the modem can become more flexible and limp. That way if it's accidentally bumped it won't disconnect from the port and/or cause damage? I've seen a few extensions on ebay but they have certain ratings as to how much data can run through it. I don't know is these cables can work or what data rating I should get. Thanks
you can get a USB extension cable upto 12' it wont effect your signal or performance. You can just move the dongle out of the way. 3' is usually plenty though
You could look at Best Buy or Circuit City for a short USB extension cable.
If the modem is in the way, you might want to use Velcro and attach it to the laptop monitor. That way, the modem will be close-by, but not dangling down beside your leg or table.
We tried the VZW broadband for my wife's laptop.
Her modem was the kind that used a PCMCIA (PC Card) slot. Just a small antenna was external.
