Induction Heat Flash - how do you know

My truck has been running great. I am up in mpg - averaging over 18 on my trips to work. Probably close to 17.5 overall now. Some of this gain has happened after I took it in for the most recent flash.

Dealership stated that all three processors were updated. Truck ran great so I was happy. Only thing is - I decided to listen for the inductive heating going on after shutdown (posts here indicate it is noticeable) and could not hear anything.

Is the sound really that noticeable? I know that all the years I have spent w/ a shotgun has taken a toll, but probably not that much! Is there a way to verify that the inductive heating is actually going on and that the proper flash was done? I am not really complaining, just curious!

Maybe it would show up on an Oasis report? If possible, I would like to verify it in operation too.

TIA

i think its the buzz flash that cycles the injectors after shut down. i have the newest flash on my truck and it makes no noise after shutdown...but when i was shopping around for a new truck there were a few that would. my only guess would be that they had the buzz flash. i'm sure someone that knows for sure will chime in soon.

Yeah, it should show up on the oasis. I don't think you can hear anything and I think you would only "hear" anything before a cold start up. I don't think it makes any noise. Something about a certain amount of amps applied to the injectors to heat the oil up inside of them...don't quote me.

Doubledee is partially right. The inductive flash will also vary the turbo and shut down the EGR during excessive idleing. On occasion I have been able to hear the engine rpm vary if the truck idles for more than a few minutes.

Thanks to all who posted.

Several recent posts have, in error, specifically stated that you can hear the injectors cycling with the Inductive Heat Flash. This, in fact, is the "BUZZ" flash as FordF150guy has stated. I was assuming that the posts were essentially correct in that you could hear SOME noise with the Inductive Heat Flash - just that the noise you could hear was described poorly.

Now, it seems like the correct info is that you can not hear when the inductive heating is going on. I personally am not even able to hear any switches activate to apply electrical current. I am very sure that I received my Flash - I am very pleased with my dealership!

One of the reasons for me paying to get the Flash, was the idle strategy and the EGR valve operation!

As far as when the flash came out, I hope someone posts on this also. I am pretty sure that in Nov of 06 you would not have gotten the Inductive Heat Flash (but I am not 100% on this). I do not think a dealership would typically apply a Flash upgrade unless you are having symptoms that would require it (but some might).

FYI - the TECH FOLDER STILL does not have the thread working that describes what each Flash does. I have notified ADMIN on this several times. Does anyone have an alternate source for this?

Again, I appreciate the posts on ways to possible tell by listening if you have the most recent flash.
