I had just the opposite problem! My 3-jaw was too fat, but my 2-jaw worked great...had to put LOT'S of heat on it, though, before it "popped". Then it came right off, of course.

Preachin' to the choir! We have the Stanley's at work, but every time I find them used, people want almost as much as new, which is out of this world! However, my best score was some storage units from Radio Shack. They change everything out every so often, to keep the stores looking "fresh". My buddy owns one. If you are ever in one, there's some drawer units, that have roller slides (I've got some FULL of bolts, and don't even notice the weight), and a very nice size. You can join them together to make whatever you want. Bought 4 units from him for $200, then when another RS closed, he got the old stock, and gave me 4 more units! The 2nd 4 were on rollers, even. He told me he paid $1500 for his units, so that was $3,000 worth for $200!

I'll try to photoshop one up for you. I can usually do pretty good. My truck came to me with a slightly metallic burgundy, so I played with all kinds of color schemes, using the burgundy. Black fenders and front. Lighter burgundy, darker burgundy, cream, etc, etc. I did one that was pretty much what you are talking about, burgundy lower, cream upper. I thought it would be cool, but man, it was UGLY!!! Surprised me when I got it done, so much that I deleted it almost immediately. I even tried black running boards, with it - nothing helped. Seemed "washed-out" somehow. Anyway, we all have different tastes, you might like it. I'll try to get to making one in the next few days.

I'd appreciate that. Learning to post on this site ( I only said post, I suck at searching!) is about as good with computers as I get.
Great deals on your boxes. I won't make you feel bad by telling you what I paid for my vidmar and the other three tool carts. LOL

I never feel bad, when someone gets a good deal!! I do know they are very expensive, new!

Here's the Radio Shack units - the first is four units bolted to the wall. The broom will give you an idea of size. The 2nd, you can see it in the background with the colored labels. That one is two units tall, back to back on wheels. Nice, when tearing apart the truck!! There's also a brown one, behind the (messy!) welding table, with very short drawers, which is great for tool manuals and sand paper, etc. As you can see, almost everything I have is on wheels! And if it doesn't when I get it, it does very shortly after...

Oh yeah, the progress today...as I mentioned, the wife is allowing me to tear down the truck. Of course, before she changed her mind, I did it!! Of course, no one came over to help, so I had my wife and her girlfriend (her hubby was in bed) help me get the bed and cab off. Here's some pics:

pretty happy with the progress, so far...

Your truck is in great shape. If I tried to stand my bed on end like that it would crumble into a million pieces. All three sides are pretty much shot from where the wood meets it, down. I can't wait to work on the end cap also. That's gonna suck. I've got to take some new pictures now. Those cabinets are worth every dime. I found two old file cabinets that I keep my power tools in. Even still had the keys with them. My newest toy is an old generator chassis that my cab is sitting on now. Makes a great trailer for the yard.

What I don't understand is why are you tearing it apart, yours looks better when you tore it apart than mine does and I'm puting mine together.

Roger, I am not a good computer person however when I clicked on the link to view your new shop pics I got a virus warning. I immediately shutdown and did a virus scan on my computer. I do not know for sure if it was a problem with the link that you provided or not.

I just clicked on it, too, and got the popup. That's a standard ad pop-up, just trying to get you to buy their product. Why it popped up on the link, is beyond me. There's nothing there that should have caused it - that links been up for over two years, without change. If you want, try the following link. It didn't pop up for me.

2nd attempt - my shop

I am a pretty good computer person, and I'm stumped as to why it would happen, unless my service provider itself, has something going on. A webpage can only broadcast what's on the page. And there's nothing on mine that can do that. It's definitely NOT a virus, it's a popup ad. The way to tell, is if it were a virus, YOUR anti-virus would have come up and said it was. I'm sure that wasn't the case. That's why your scan didn't find anything. If you had clicked on the box, it would have taken you to a different site, telling you that you HAD to buy their product to get rid of it. Unfortunately, when you click on the link again, it doesn't come up. I'll call my IT guy at the provider, and see if it's something on their end...

yeah, gents, it IS rather nice! There's some "hidden" problems with it. But not too bad.

I was going to just throw the motor in, when I decided to rebuilt the tranny. When that was done it looked so good, I had to paint the motor (it has about 5 hours on it since rebuilt, but was sitting in a humid garage, under a tarp, under a roof leak and had some rust showing). Then, when the motor was done, I HAD to rust-proof the frame. That's when mama said I could go ahead, and tear it the rest of the way down. Soooo, that's what I did! Sandlblasting the frame will be a LOT easier than wire-wheeling the whole thing. Plus, all the previous owner's had their shot at making life miserable for me - like the front clip being thrown together with 3 inch carriage bolts, the 8 inch carriage bolts holding the bed on, etc, etc. It should be pretty nice when I get it done...
