The wiring runs like this. There is a hot lead that runs up the steering column (from a relay on the inner finder). When this wire is shorted to ground it closes a relay that is on the inner finder. From there the power is passed to the horn. Sorry I don't recall what color the wires are.
Yes, normally to the steering column. The Turn switch has a post that transfers the hot lead to the horn button. Pressing the button completes the circuit to ground energizing the horn relay.
The horn wire is BLUE/Yellow stripe. Find the large flat plug under column and find that wire. Tough it to ground....see if relay or horn works. The horn relay is out next to starter soleniod, or front corner of core support. Plug has three tabs on it in triangle shape.
Not sure which years have the "rim blow" style horn? I think my '69 had it?(I replaced with af/m wheel) My '67 only has center ring.
There is a small brass button UNDER the steering wheel that passes current to center horn button. These fall apart/wear out and will cause lack of horn too. Pull the steering wheel and confirm it's still there if you get horn working from under dash.

I traced the wires to the dash last night while was under the hood. It all "looks" ok. There is nothing under the horn. I didn't see any wires. I'm guessing I will need to start under the dash and work up the steering colum.

If there's nothing under the horn button or ring, the brush and insulator are missing. These parts just drop into the hole in the steering wheel...and here's what happened.
The brush broke (or the pad collapsed-see below), the horn started blaring, so someone removed the brush and insulator.
Remove the horn button or ring, there's a hole in the steering wheel at roughly 5 o'clock. That's where those parts belong.
EVERY 1965/72 F100/350 has a brush and insulator.
Your horn doesn't blow...you can trace every wire on the truck, replace every dang one of them, but if there's no brush or insulator, your problem lies there.
Why did the horn start blaring? It could very well be...inside the horn button (or ring) itself is a rubber insulating cushion. Over time it collapses, and then the horn starts blaring.
codz13a813a .. Horn Button or Ring Pressure Pad - STILL available from Ford.
Bill, I guess I was thinking my Galaxie(last vehicle I had wheel off), as that has the brass button mounted in the t/s and then protrudes to touch back of steering wheel.

I just replaced the t/s switch in mine, it had a brass post with a spring attached on one end. Do they make the new brass part, I think mine is a bit wore down.
