Earthquake.......

We just had an earthquake here at around 5:40a EST! Pretty crazy, I thought I was out of this trouble when I left Ca I was in a pretty good one in 77 or 78 in Antioch, Ca. I think I was in the 8th grade. Wonder if Terry felt it this morning.

It sat me straight up in bed here in central Illinois. Like you said, at about 4:40 central. We've got a pre civil war brick house. I'll be checking it over pretty closely today. Stu

Glad that is wasn't anything super severe, could have been interesting if I had still been down that way for work (was in the Jasper/Celestine IN area for a few weeks last fall). Guess I have a bit of added interest in it since I am a geologist and all, I know a lot of people don't realize that we have a fairly major fault line (the New Madrid Fault System) in the midwest.

Rumor has it that someone started their BBF in a F1 up for the first time. Didn't have the mufflers hooked up yet and got carried away reving it up.

Jon,

My degree is in Geology as well. Due to one of those situations where "life happens" I haven't worked in the gologic field and am now a "safety guy"

Life is funny

Yeah, I have BS degrees in both Biology and Geology, and my MS in Geology. I'm currently a staff geologist for an environmental consulting firm.

It's 10:20 and we just had an aftershock. Have there been any others? I just got home and wouldn't have felt it in the car. Stu

I live in east central Illinois (Charleston, IL) which is 100 miles north of Evansville. My wife and I woke up from the shaking (earthquake) at around 4:40am. Further, we felt what we believe is an aftershock around 10:20am.

I didnt even know anything about it! I sleep SOUND!! I also have a water bed so maybe it cushioned the effect? But I heard a friend say that it hit him and his neighbor so hard it shook the hub caps off his new house

Seriously I didnt even know anything about it til I got to work and dad told me about it. I do sleep very soundly once I manage to get to sleep.
