Earthquake.......
#17
Had no idea up here in Chicago. If I did notice it I probably assumed it was a truck downshifting in front of the house...although I'm a notoriously sound sleeper.
We did have one a few years ago that I did feel, but it was smaller than this one.
Most people around here are too busy crying about gas prices or looking for tornadoes to even think about the chance of an earthquake.

5.2 ??????
Heck, we don't even get out of bed until it's 6.5......
Actually, that's a decent jolt. The scale is not linear however. As an example, a 6.7 quake is 900 TIMES greater than a 4.7....... When you get into the 6-7s, (I've been in 2), you start to think the world is ending.....

They're smarter than most people I know too.
Proof: Ever seen a Dog driving a Chevy? ( ok a few skunks maybe)
There ya go!
I'm a sound sleeper too, but that crack right before our earthquakes will always wake me up. It's one of those things where you jump up in bed and say we're gonna have an earthquake - and then everything shakes.

I was working the midnite shift and it rock and rolled my desk, me, and the chair ,the lights were swinging back and forth and everything . I knew it was an earthquake but nobody would believe me til the next shift came in. Not bad for Illinois. I missed the after shock I went to bed when I got home.

i was standing at the shell station not to far from the lot fueling my work truck when it hit . half asleep and noticed the truck moving . looked up to see if the wind had picked up . nope . hung the fuel nozzle in the tank and walked around to see what butt munch was messing with me and shaking the truck . no one . i didnt notice or fell a thing physically myself probably due to being worn out . didnt have a clue till i walked in and the cashier and some patrons were acting like the end had just occurred .just another day , like i told them . last time i checked we had a fault line around these parts , called the new madrid fault line so yep it can happen . been in tornadoes , hurricanes { slept through one in my truck in a truck stop } , i just dont get excited unless something falls on my head and p-sses me off .

DANG !!! I missed another one. I'm here in SE Ohio and I didn't feel a thing and as far as I know my dogs didn't either. My Rottweiler was on the bed beside me and she didn't seem to get riled. Over the years I have been where people felt tremors but I don't seem to notice. One time when we had a farm I was out in the woods and when I returned my wife asked if I noticed it. I suppose never having to experience one is better than being in one but all the same it would be something to feel at least once. I suppose if I do have that experience it will be my luck to be a bad one.
