Anyone got any advise on why my wipers quit working? Fuse is good.I can hear the wiper motor clicking if I touch the fuse in and out of the fuse holder so I know we have current to the motor.Once in a while when you first get in it might make ONE slow pass and then quit.. Bad motor?? Connection on motor?
Yes it could be the motor, but it could also be the ground connection for the motor. In the past there had been a small wire that attached to the stud on the fire wall and went to a small bolt on the gearbox for the wiper motor. Check to see if this ground connection is clean, with no corrosion or rust around it and no corrosion in the terminal that the wire connects to. The connections also need to be tight. Check that the plug connection for the motor is clean inside and that it clicks into place well with the other part of the plug when connected. Usually the only time a motor will run slow is if the motor is going bad or there is a bad ground.
Thanks Stan.. I will check that ground out and clean and tighten it.Since I posted here the first time it did start working normal for a few minutes and then quit again..I checked the multiple wire plug in you are talking about and it all seems to be clean and tight. It appears the motor itself has a molded plastic case that (may?) click over the steel motor housing itself.Do you or anyone know if this part can be removed from the motor to check the connections there?? Or maybe its NOT removable,am not sure.It appears to have plastic lock snaps on it.. Thanks for your help Stan..It very much appreciated..
