I've seen allot of broken springs from p/u trucks to semi but not the main spring it self. there must have been some Mayor weight on that truck or allot tq put to them springs. Is it the front part that broke?
I don't haul very much weight.. usually just my snowmobile and some dogs.... I don't think I have that much torque either... I just run and very small chip in it... If it's a torque problem.. I can't wait to see what the DP tuner is going to do to the next set !! LOL !!!! My buddies truck and one 2 others broke in the same spot as well !! All 02-04 trucks ... Not sure what the problem is... just watch for it guys !!
I got some used springs at the wreckers for $120 each... good to go now !
Is the spring broke in front of the alxe or the back?
Infront !! So the only thing holding your rear axle in place is your sway bar ! A bit scary since both sides were broke and I don't know how long for !!

the funny thing is .... I was just up in the snow last weekend looking for my dogs.. hahaha !! (thats funny after just reading that other post tonight) But I was stuck in the snow and had to winch myself out.. I would have just sh$# myself if the back axle fell off up there !!! The break looks old... Its been like that for a while because the broken leaf wore a slot in the metal block thats there if ya look real close !
I checked mine and they are not broke from what I can see. I need to wash it up good to look for any cracks. I'll be swapping them due to the sagging anyway so once they come off I'll know for sure if the driver side is broke or just worn out.
I had mine break on me a couple years ago. I was driving down the road and heard metal drop and bounce across the road. Pulled over to find two of the springs were broken. Went to the spring shop and they found the other side had two broken ones as well. Thankfully when the spring fell off when I was driving, it didn't hit the fuel tank.
I had the same thing happen to me. Was under the truck to replace the shocks and looked at the rear springs. And low and behold I had a broken leaf. It was the second leaf if I recall. The piece was missing too and the break was rusty. So I hope that no one caught that metal. Bought new springs with a heavier rating and installed the shorter blocks. During the replacement I found the other side was broke in the same spot!
Would be nice to replace the fronts since my truck sits with too much rake now.
