I'm going to replace the leaf springs on my truck since they are shot. I've been looking at the reverse eye main springs which go for about $100 each. Has anyone installed these and can you use your leaf spring pack with this spring. How much does the reverse eye lower the truck from stock?
You can purchase an entire pack of leaves with a reverse eye main or just the main as I did. Make sure you get the main leaf replacement not the monoleaf. The reverse eye is good for about 1.5"

Chris, how much did the reversed mains cost you???
I bought reversed eye main leaves to use with my existing spring packs from Sacramento Vintage about a year ago (maybe more). Think I paid about $65.00 USD each........
A second option is to take the main leaves to a spring shop and they can readily re arch the original main leaf in the opposite direction resulting in a reversed eye spring. Should be cheaper than new main leaves. That is my plan for my 49 F-1
49- That might work if your springs are in good shape. The front of my leaf springs with the truck on the ground are flat, and almost bending the opposite direction. I need new ones. I got a price of $65 each for the main spring with reverse eyes. I think it may cost that much to have reverse eyes made, and then you also have the risk of the spring breaking on you.
Back in the day when raising a car up was thought to give weight transfer at the drags, I have reversed/re-arched spring leaves by laying it across the side of a section of 12" I-beam that we kept around as an anvil, and hammering with a 4# maul in the middle between the support points. You need to have patience and keep working the full length of the leaf a little at a time, It may take an hour or more but it will work. I'd trace the leaf with chaulk on the floor so I could check my progress and evenness. Be careful that the leaf is not angled across the I-beam or you'll build in a twist.
PS: If anyone decides to try this be sure to wear hearing protection, it's VERY noisy!
