the other day i was treking back to a campsite, and i hit a bit of sand in my 1994 f250 4x4 5.8 automatic. in short, the transmission got a little hot, and as i was crawling through sand, and something broke. now, when i put it in drive, it goes nowhere.
no foreward gears will engage; not in 4wd, or 2wd. putting it in 1st or second on the column doesnt work either.
however, it drives fine in reverse. can anyone help me out with this damn thing? the transmissions only 5 months old.
Not too sure on the e4od as mine is a bit older but if you were running the gears in sand, is it possible that the linkage got out of adjustment? When you say something broke, what do you mean? Loud clunk? Fluid everywhere? Engine over rev?
Sorry I cant be more help but the more info you can give, the better the others will be able to help. Good luck.
the linkage moves when i shift it to drive, but nothing goes on inside the tranny it seems like. it will clunk into reverse though. no fluid loss, no loud bang, it just feels like its in neutral when i have it in drive.
Unless the linkage got unadjusted somehow, (sorta unlikely since D21 dont work at all) it sounds like one od the clutches just isn't engaging.
The first thing I always do with the e4od is to drop the pan and replace the fluid/filter. Its cheep and solves a lot of e4od problems. Its somewhat of a messy job...
If that doesnt work, you may need a rebuild, or something else fun.
