Truck I believe is a 2002, tranny locked up while driving and seems to be shifting into reverse while in foreward gear. sometimes it will get going in foreward gear but will eventually shift into reverse while driving foreward. Sounds like a broken shift fork to me but thats just a guess. We're all small engine mechanics here so we have the ability to pull and inspect the tranny but none of us has been inside of one of these before.
The local tranny shops pretty much said they dont want to touch the tranny at all unless we just want a used one installed.
truck is an f250 superduty 4X4 with the 7.3L
Any help is appreciated
Scott
EDIT: just checked the vin its a 2001

We were able to start the truck and move it to the rear of the shop, all gears engage even reverse but it does make whirring noise like a blown rear makes. The fluid was checked a week or so ago and was fine.
Anyone know if there is access to the trans without pulling it? Are there any common issues with this trans? Everything I've been able to find says they are near bulletproof.
