no clutch

i have a 03 ranger xlt 4x4 5spd.

i lost the clutch lastnight, gone!

it started yesterday morning, i was having trouble getting it in to gear so i thought it might be low on fluid. it was a little low so i topped it off and it ws a little better, but when i got in it lastnight i had a really hard time getting it in gear wheni was stopped, but i could pump the clutch and get in to gear. i made it home but now it wont go in gear at all! the fluid hasnt gotten any lower. i tryed to bleed it this morning but i cant get anything to come out.

can someone tell me a little more about how to bleed the clutch? or what they think the problame might be??

I just realized that you have this question in the Ranger AND tranny forum.

Sorry buddy, I do not want to give you hard time. I was just getting confused between the two threads. Sorry.

You found the one about bleeding the clutch slave, both your thread and the other one were posted within minutes of each other.

It does sound like your slave is gone, but it does seem premature. Did you say the Ranger was an 03? Well that is 5 years though.

If it is the slave, it would be a good idea to change EVERYTHING while in there.

Sorry again about the confusion.

If you do it yourself, 300 or so.
Take it in 800 or so.

That's just it, the internal slave is a BAD idea. ( bad for the user/owner, good for parts and repair).

My 88 Mazda B2200's slave is external, and costs 14.00 to replace.
How come Ford did not use a similar set up - On their "MAZDA" manual trannies.

you said you cant get any fluid to come out when you crack the bleeder and pump the pedal this could mean your master cylinder is bad you slave could be fine if this is what you said i would try changing the master which is easy and cheap

i couldnt agree more about how RETARTED the internal slave is im very happy that 3 of my 4 vehicles including the 95 powerstroke ZF5 i just bought have external slaves because ive changed enough of the internal slaves to make my head spin and im done owning vehicles that have them its crazy the diesel zf5 have external slaves but the gas zf5 have internal what is ford thinking ive debated replacing my m5r2 with a t19 in my f150 just to solve this problem
