hey everyone. need help. have an 89 ranger with a 4 banger. internal slave cylinder. can anybody let me know how to bleed it out. has new clutch and tranny. cap on the master popped off and now there is air in it. thanks !
get some one to help you and its real easy. get them in the truck and you get under it , have them put some pressure on the pedal. open the bleeder and have the push it and HOLD it to the floor. very very very important to to tell them to HOLD it, then close the bleeder valve and let the pedal SNAP back! repeat this several time , more like 10-15 times to make sure that all the air is out. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT NOT TO LET THE FLUID IN THE RESERVOIR TO EMPTY!!!!!!!!!!!! so every two- three cycles go up there and add more fluid.
air trapped in the system is a real Pain to get out. so just take your time doing it.

its the master that has the air not the slave in all liklihood. go to the tech section at the top of the page and there are some ways to do it. Some will tell ya to pull and invert the master, some do as above. But if its like the later models and has a sloping master it is a real PIA. I use the method of pullin the piston from the master to get the air out and it is posted there.or you can:
inside the cab, pull the starter interlock from the clutch rod, disconnect the rod from the pedal arm. You will see a snap ringin the master over the piston. Pull the snap ring, pull the piston till just the air and a little fluid escapes, pump the master a couple of strokes repeat the above, reasemble than bleed per the manual, open the bleeder and let gravity bleed. Might have to bleed the bleeder a couple of times, biggest thing is the air in the master.
well see i have a homemade bleeder where you fill it up with fluid and push the fluid with air seeing that it has to be bled backwards up through the master. my only problem is some idiot put tranny fluid instead of dot 3 and the problem was it was an internal slave but i recently just saw there is an access hole.
