4R70w Question!

when holding a stead speed the Vehicle will through it's self in what seems neutral, the engine revs like its in neutral until the it hits 35 or 30mph! the trans will re-engage u can acc. back up 55mph! does it frequently! then does spreratically on a drive!

Changed fluid and filter! still does it!! Would the sensor on the side of the tranny where the shift cable hooks up?, cause this sudden slip of the trans.!!

Yes, it's possible. It's called the Transmission Range Sensor, or TRS.

How about this part it was in my pan when I pulled it for a filter change.

That part was part of a nationwide contest. One transmission had that part in the pan. If it was sent in to Ford by April 1, 2008, it was worth $1 million. You should have changed the oil sooner!

Either that or it's the shipping plug for the dipstick hole in the trans. When the dipstick is installed at the truck assembly plant the plug is pushed into the pan. It sits there until the first time the pan is pulled, then it shows up in a forum somewhere.
