yeah I googles and found this site

Suspension Design: Types of Suspensions 2 - Automotive Articles .com Magazine

some of their info is a little off, but has pictures of 3/4link setups.

how can you 3 link without a panhard? would you triangulate the lowers?

so speaking in terms of links, radius arms are kind of a "2 link with panhard" right?

there is a couple kinds of reg. 3links......

yes, the radius arms is really a 2link w/ panhard
the "reg." one......usually the upper is triangulated with near straight (out some) "lowers"

the wishbone 3link (think trianglulated 4link except the 2 "uppers" are 1 like a big wishbone......with reg. lowers (usually slightly outward)

there are many many different ways to setup a 3link or 4link.......these are just basic......

Nick, It's not a big deal. Just to further clarify why I was referring to the stock coil spring setup as a very basic 3 link style is from different forums of racing. In oval dirt track racing that I am involved with, some of the lower class cars are allowed to use "truck arm" suspensions, which are normally the ford radius arms turned backwards with the c's welded to a quick change or 9" rear. From there they use a panhard bar and coil over shocks, hence giving the axle 3 points connected to the frame. The same has been dabated in many of the mud bogs/sand drags I attend up here as most of the ruling bodies will allow a stock radius arm setup as long as the vehicle originally came with it on the Fords, but to change say a chevy or dodge out to the ford style radius arm and track bar setups, they will consider that a 3 linked suspension and is not allowed in the lower tire size classes, as again it is technically only conected to the frame by 3 points, not including the track bar. I don't get offended, there are many ways to get to a common end, as long as we all learn something and help each other out along the way.

so you would suggest them?

Yes I would suggust them...........For $60+shipping and some welding its the best bang for your buck.

People can argue all day long on what they think is best, do what ya want and if it dosent work then change it. Life goes on people.........
