1994 power stroke wont start. Dash light comes on and stays for about 15 seconds but I noticed the battery indicator does not show a large current drain as it did when it would start properly.
Im guessing a glow plug relay but dont know the location or testing procedures.
The relay is near the passenger side valve cover but it might be under the large plastic cover that says "powerstroke" on it if yours is still there. It looks like the solenoid that is on the passenger fender. once you find it get a test light or voltmeter. with a helper (or turn the key on and run up front quickly) turn the key on and check for battery voltage on both larger terminals. Also the relay should click but even if it clicks it may not be transferring power.
Thanks for the info. as luck would have it when I went to test the thing it started as normal. The only difference is temprature today is in the 40's instead of 70???
Tricky truck.
Hey, if you go to replace this.........I would suggest buying the relay at dieselstop. I went through this and went through numerous repairs at ford......with stock relays just to have them fail............I finally bought one of these beefy relays and no problems since...........the dieselstop relay is a little more........but will save you heartache down the road..........I was nuckle head and thought ford should know what they are doing........but a lot of money later.........I discovered the beefy relay is far, far better.

Very slow loading pages, Admin pretty much told me they don't care and that I should buy a subscription if I don't like the ads, many posters have left and I won't be there hardly at all any more either except to use the classifieds. Too bad it used to be a good site.
Since they pulled their BS with
The Help MADDOG's newborn child link i will not post!
