as long as they are within 10% of each other you should be ok, in general most 7.3's hover around 375-400 psi or better

Yep what Joe said. Got my gauge set yesterday and will be testing my parts truck motor before I rip it out tomorrow. Then gonna test my truck when I get a chance. Hoping both will be what Joe said but I don't think my truck will look real good.

This is the set I bought
eBay Motors: MityVac Digital Diesel Engine Compression Tester Kit (item 360012504476 end time May-08-08 13:42:52 PDT)
The reason I went with this set and not one of the others is that it specifically states it works on the PSD and its brand name. The others are no name and just say they are for 6.9/7.3's so I don't know for sure they have the right adapter for the PSD.

Any compression test tool for diesels is probabaly ok, long as the guage goes up to 4-500psi. PSD's need a glow plug adapter. I couldn't find one locally and was in a hurry when I needed it, so I looked at pictures online and then made my own. I bought a brand new grease gun hose for $5-6. Then I cut the tip off and pulled the core out of an old glow plug. I welded the new hose onto the glow plug body and ran my test, piece of cake.

I use my set yesterday. It worked well but the short (compared to the GP) stub below the threads made it tricky to get starting in the threads.

Tim, the PSD glow plug adapter has a flexible hose permanently attached to it, the 90 degree fitting you are worried about connects to the end of the flex hose way above the heads so it's not in the way.

Mine has that setup but I didn't see any flexible hose in the kit that Jose posted.
