I have an '03 6.0L SuperCab Short Box, shown in my sig below. Found a great buy on some 20" wheels with Toyo MTs in 35x12.50 with 6000 miles on them. The wheels are MKW M26, found on this page: MKW OFF-ROAD WHEELS
Its wheels and tires for a hair more than the tires cost new installed locally (tires are $1546 locally installed, combo is $1650, only 6000 miles). They just installed a lift (had levelling kit) and went up to 37s on 22s.
The only thing holding me back is their 3200lb load rating. Is this high enough for a diesel SuperDuty? Its mostly on the road, minor offroading during hunting season but nothing extreme. Please lend me some advice if you have it!
Well, with a GVWR of 8800lbs, it should be more than enough per wheel. Even when mine was WELL overloaded at 11,400 lbs, these wheels would be enough for a total of 12,800 lbs.
You may have a problem if you tow a fifth wheel or goose neck with heavy pin weight. My 34' Alpenlite fifth wheel maxed the 3200# rated tires on the rear axle of my '93 F250 (lighter truck than your '03). Didn't have additional load capacity (rating), for extra tools, toys, or additional camping gear. Upgraded to the truck in my sig.
Only you know how you use the truck, if you never load the crap out of it you should be fine. My '02 came with tires rated at 3420 lbs so you are only giving up less than 900 lbs from the stock tires on an '02. If they are something you want, as far as the wheels go, buy them, run them until bald and upgrade tires if you feel that the need is there. Based on what you put on your thread you should never have a problem. Don't let the tire rating scare you away from the deal if you want the rims and get a great deal.
I prefer a forged wheel myself, but I can't imagine you ever having a problem, even if you were loading your truck to the gills and then throwing on a trailer with 7 or 800 lbs. of tongue weight. If you like the wheels and tires (Toyo makes an awesome tire) offer 1500 and take them home. Tim
Thanks the info guys. It was definitely a good deal, but after looking through some galleries here I've decided 20s are just a little big on 35s and I don't plan on making the jump to 38s anytime soon. I'm going to hold out for a set of 18s that I really like.
