Ok so the other day I was coming home from work, went to make a turn and flipped my left signal on and the indicator light didnt blink. It just stayed on until it cancelled when the wheel was straightened. When I got home I got out and checked them. When the signal is turned on the front signal just stays on, it doesnt blink. And the rear signal doesnt come on at all. When I turn my headlights on the rear light comes on but when the brakes are applied, it doesnt become any brighter.
I checked my fuses and they all look fine. I'm not sure what else to check. I'm not to sure about all the electrical stuff. Thats why I like working on my '67 more. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.
This is actually expected for the newer trucks. Most likely, one of your bulbs is out. Pop the lens or bulb and take a look. Even if it doesn't look bad, replace and test it. You should find one bulb bad, most likely the rear from your post.
Ok but why would the indicator light stay on and not blink? And why would the front signal also stay on and not blink?
This is normal when a bulb goes on a newer vehicle. On mine, the signal indicator on the dash will even glow when the lights are on when a bulb is bad. They have been doing this since the mid '80's.
It could also be the socket if it is going bad but I would check the bulb first.
This is the newest vehicle I own so I guess thats why I didnt know that. I can do anything on my '67 F-100 and not even think about it, but with this one it throws me for a loop sometimes. Thanks for the info!

Don't feel so bad. My first "new" vehicle was a '86 Jimmy in '97. Before then, I never owned anything newer then a '72. I actually learned about the light issue you have from the Jimmy's owner's manual. Since then, I have had a few post '80's rigs and I noticed it a few more times in the manual. I have the manual for my truck in my sig and it doesn't mention it so I guess the writers figure we must know it by now.
