monst - i disagree - at least in part. It can get REALLY dusty out here, because repeated tire tracks over our dirt roads grinds the surface into an ever finer powder. Fact remains the cabin air filter IS picking out of the air a LOT of crap that would otherwise get in our lungs.
Of COURSE people survive without cabin air filters. Some of us are more sensitive to airborne contaminants than others. I, for one, like the idea of filtering the air.
I am not sure about this, but I THINK that on most front air conds. includ. our EX's, even on "recirc", bring in a MIX of outside air.
Dosn't matter. Those who like the idea of getting the dust out, are going to figure out ways to filter their cabin air.
Damn - you've been in a bad mood recently, Monsta - what is it ? You violate your doctor's instructions and peek in a mirror recently ? Is that it ?
Seriously - I was not disagreeing with you as to the REAR air system in our EX's. What I DONT know, is whether the FRONT system, even when on "recirc", provides for a mix of outside air.
Why did Toyota not care enough about human life that their frames on the pickups not rust through and turn to swiss cheese? Prior thread and do a google search if you need to verify. Quiet recall/reiinspect being done by Toyota...c'mon lay off Ford for no cabin filter. If the Excursion is as bad as you always make it out to be why do you have one?
In response to your questions -I dont know much about the corrosion issue you mentioned. From what I hear, Toyota is taking responsibility for it. Fact is, here in the west, we dont have corrosion issues, because we do not permit our govt. to throw things on the road that would ruin our cars like they do in the east. Instead, we learn to behave ourselves when driving on ice and snow.
I have an EX because, with a little Yankee Ingenuity, you can make one useful for towing, which is what I use mine for.
Incidentally, my Toyota now has 100,000 mi on it; like any well-maintained car, dosnt use a drop of oil and runs fine. Have had to replace brake pads on it. Havnt had to replace brake rotors on it.....
I saw a Cabin Air Filter several years ago available for f series that a forum sponser "Geno's" had on their website. Not sure if it is still there but worth a shot to email them and ask. I believe it mounted in front of the windshield under the cowl vent grill.

Honstly 6686L, if you can't figure out that YOU put most people in a bad mood here then you have a problem.
Sorry, that is just my two cents from reading pretty much any of the threads that you have posted on.

You really are some kind of piece of work! How often does it snow and get icy in your dessert conditions where for 6 months you dont even get a drop of rain?

You are partially correct. I am a SPLENDID "piece of work". Not only am I incredibly charming and sweet-dispositioned, I am also kind, gracious, meek and mild-mannered, I also have a loveable personality.
You are wrong abou driving conditions - but that is understandable. Most people who spend much of their lives in the north east have a simple and incorrect reaction when they see the word "Arizona'. Yes, the southern and vary far western edge of Arizona is in fact desert. But I dont live in the southern or far western edge of Arizona. I live in the high country north of Prescott. Ice is quite common in the higher country ( I live in a valley, the floor of which is higher than all but a couple of the highest mountain-tops east of the Mississippi. At this elevation, we typically see morning temps of TEN degrees, often lower. That means when our roads are wet, they become ice.
Of interest, we had a tragic multi vehicle accident last winter up near Flagstaff (couple of thousand feet higher than us) with something like 80 vehicles involved. Typical situation of driving too fast for conditions - so that when some people spun out, the people following WAY too closely at WAY too high a speed, made a sandwich of vehicles, closing the Interstate for the better part of that day. MANY OF THE CULPRITS HAD EASTERN LICENSE PLATES !
