I did the IDM mod yesterday and everything went as planed. But I'll give you a tip: It helps immensely if you have the eye of an Eagle, the fingers of a Raccoon and the intestinal fortitude of a base jumper.
After it's over, It's back in place and the truck starts and runs great, then and only then is it a Piece of cake
(Ya didn't screw it up)

Rog
What happens if you have the sight of a bat, fingers of an elephant and intestinal fortitude of an anorexic?
Ouch TJ, what did i ever do to you?
Scott- your story of IDM's reminds me of the time that i admitted to a friend of mine that i have experience changing clutches. His truck was over my pit As soon as i offered to help... lol
Rog- How long did this take you?
Removing the old resister just a couple of minutes, I used a very small screwdriver, placed it in the middle at the edge of the resister and taped the screwdriver. The resister broke in half and I picked the two (2) pieces out.
Took the new resister and bent the ends into two (2) tiny little feet pointing at each other. I used all of the resister just as it came except for the feet. (Madvan gets credit for the feet & using all of the resister)
I then tinned the feet, placed the foot on the farthest point where the original was, put a drop of solder on the iron and touch it to the foot and the solder flowed. (1 second) Then did the same with the second foot.
This resister is now quite tall so I used a small portion of the RTV glue and glued it to that blue "Stack" (Don't know what it is) so that vibration from the vehicle wouldn't cause the new solder/resister connection to break.
The whole removal and replacement took about 15 minuets. The toughest part was De-gluing the cover and the case. The cover, I got it off without and damage whatsoever. I started to use a razor knife and figured my life expectancy was working against me so I took it over to the grinder with a medium wire wheel and had the cover cleaned in five (5) minuets.
To clean the case I used a razor knife and cut along both sides of the "Groove" then used the same small screwdriver to scrape it out.
After I was through the lid would just fall into place, turn it over it would fall out. It was clean.
I used the Grey RTV and ran a generous bead all around the case, laid the lid in place and put a small anvil, (3-4lbs) on the lid and let set for an hour or so to let the RTV set up. While waiting I took a small brush and lightly coated the connection pins with dielectric grease.
