What do I look for to see if I have a c-6 tranny. I have a 1990 f-150 4X4 supercab shortbed. Just bought it today so any info would be great. Looking forward on talking with you people while I build up this truck.
I thought the E4OD was the only tranny with a push button overdrive. An AODE should have a P-R-N-(D)-D-1 shift pattern.
I'm not a 100% certain either, I test drove a '90 5.8 powered truck when I was shopping a few years ago and it had the OD button on the dash, I seem to remember reading that was the AODE tranny...but I could be mistaken.
My 90 had the OD button on the dash as well, I always just assumed that it was an
E4OD because the AODs I was aware of were forced in and out of OD by the shift linkage.
Stupid me, I never wrote down what was on that door tag, now I've got myself wondering. It was a very different animal than the non-electronic AOD in my newer truck.
I am 99% sure that I have the E40D tranny. The pan doesnt look anything like any of the ones below, but I found the owners manual and I went by that. Is there a website that has complete specs? I have so many questions and I dont want to bug you guys for stuff I could look up myself
