I was thinking of converting my 66 F250 4x4 with a 390, 4spd to an auto. Do I have to look for a C6 from a 4x4 or can a C6 from a '74 2wd be made to work?
The 2wd transmission will work. You will have to check and make sure the tailshaft isn't too long. In the long run, it might be easier and cheaper to find a C6 from any highboy up to 76 with a divorced t-case and use the factory short driveshaft.
I'm not sure if I'll sell the stuff that comes out, or hang on to it, but I am up in Canada, so it would cost 10 times what it's worth just to ship it.
