The 1973/79 F100/350's are a completely different truck than 1967/72's. The body and frames are wider (except 1973/77 F250 4WD "High Boys" which have the same width of the 67/72 F250 4WD frames).

1978/79 F100/350's with rectangular headlamps used a different core support than 1973/78's with round headlamps. And there are two core supports for 1973/78's with round lamps, because the Super Cooling Radiator used a different core support.

1978/79 core supports with rectangular headlamps have the area behind the lamps dished, in order for the headlamp bodies to fit correctly.

I gotta 79 support in my 67 F-250, and pretty much the hood latch was the biggie. I need new headlight buckets since mine are rotted, so I dunno. I also used the 79 inner fenders and just had to swap the hood springs from outside in.

I also used a late 80's dodge truck radiator, since I had a brand new one in the garage, and the original leaked bad.

I used one in my 67 F-250, along with inner fenders. The hood latch and was the biggie. I guess I can't put up a link to the site with a how-to, but if you "got fordified" in the past tense and did a search you may find it.

I also used a late 80's dodge radiator to fill the big opening.

Bill, That is not quite correct.

The sheetmetal is different between 67-72 and 73-79 the frame width is the same under the cab and front clip from 65-79. The frame width is different only behind the rear cab mounts.

I believe I have read here that some folk have made some on site mods and have used the core supports between the models.

That is the kind of information that dummies cant get from a book, and why they should try to be team players, instead of trying to be know it all supremest. IMHO

Yes, you are correct...my bad...the frame widths under the cab & front clip are the same from 1965/79.

And I've read that the 1973 and later core supports, inner fenders, can be modified to fit 1967/72's.

The OP asked what changes were made to the 1979 core support from the (two) used in 1967/72, and I thought I answered his question on what Ford did.

As far as being a Team Player, why not let the FTE members vote on whether I am...or not.

If not, I'll leave FTE and never return again.

I've spent over $500.00 of my own money buying the latest possible Ford parts catalogs, and other references.

I type 1000's of part numbers here for FTE members.

I search FoMoCo's website to see if the parts are still available, and if so, list the retail price and the discounted price offered by the three FTE Ford Dealer Parts Department sponsors.

I search for obsolete parts for members on various websites, and if found, post the information on who has them.

I answer dozens of p/m's and emails a week from members asking for parts information.

I've typed over 1000 posts on the history of Ford Motor Company.

If that's not being a Team Player, then I don't know what is.

Thumbs up Answered right worded wrong

Bill,
You answered my question because i asked it wrong. I wanted to know what had to be done to the 79 radiator support to have it replace a 72 radiator support and if someone could tell or show pictures on the modfied support. I got a 79 that they say can be modified to work.
Thanks Walt

IMHO Numberdummy is one of the best assets we have here. He has said himself he is not an expert. IMHO he has done a good job to help all that ask a part # question. What would we do with out him? I vote in FAVOR of him staying and continue to help others!

By the way, I have a 73 79 rad support, inner liners and hood hinges in my 70. Fit fine, except the hood hinges are on the inside instead of the outside.
