Hello to all - I have been searching dealer inventory on 08' F150's for 3 months and I see them listed as FS (flareside) & SS (styleside). The little thumb pics they have its hard to tell a differance. Not to mention when they ONLY give "stock photos".
Would anybody care to enlighten me ?? I am trying to find a Loaded FX4 but they are few and far between unless I want to drive 300+ miles.
When I build one on fords website it doesnt mention anything about this.

Thanks Rick
When you are building one online you do have to select if you want style side or flare side, it's on the same page for selecting what cab and 4x4 or 4x2. You are probably just over looking it....it is the last option on the page.
Thats what I was thinking also but this all stems from my call to a dealer today, inquiring about a truck and he didnt mention anything about the "steps" so I just wanted to clear the confusion.
Yep that is true. The old stepside is the new flareside or vice-a-versa.
I think the flaresides are awsome. I wanted one, but it was quite a bit more than the styleside, so I have a cool truck anyway.
Another difference is that the Flareside, or stepside, base price is more than the Styleside. The only difference in the base models with the STX, other than the box being inside the wheel wells, was the Flareside comes with an electronic transfer case compared to the manual transfer case on the STX Styleside.
Ford doesn't make stepsides.......................
They are Flaresides!
Not much "flare" these days, but at least FORD history lives on. In other words, still classic in my opinion. Owning one will set your ride apart from the others.
