Bought an 08 Escape slightly used. Need to find the keyless entry code. Owner's manual said it was on some card in the glove box, however as it was used it did not have the card in the glove box. I know on my Explorer I was able to find the code on a sticker on the security module. Short of taking it to the dealer, is there anywhere in the vehichle where the code can be found or any other way to determine the factory set code?
I would recomend finding the original selling dealership. If the individual who checks in the new cars at the dealership has kept a good log, they should have the factory keyless entry code written in a log. With a 2008 that should almost be expected of them to have it still on the log books along with key codes. When I worked at a dealership, the gentleman who kept those logs had been doing so for nearly 10 years, and sometimes when we could not retrieve the key code from an older vehicle, if it was bought there we could check with him and he might have the key codes and the keyless entry code.
No help for this time, but this is a common problem with used vehicles. I have heard many tales of only one working key, no entry code, etc. I learned the hard way too, when I bought a 98 explorer with only one key. Now I will INSIST that the seller provide two working keys and any factory codes, or pay the cost of getting them, otherwise no deal!
