I HAVE A USED 99 EXPIDITION AND I CAN'T FIND THE CODE FOR THE DOORS. I DON'T HAVE THE LITTLE CARD THAT COMES WITH A NEW ONE AND CAN'T FIND IT ON THE COMPUTER. THAT IS EVEN IF I'M LOOKIN IN THE RIGHT PLACE. WHERE IS THE COMPUTER. I WAS LOOKING BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX. I KNOW THAT IS WHERE IT IS ON MY 92 SHO. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT
LAST EDITED ON 06-Aug-00 AT 11:19 PM (EST)[p]I have a 99 EXP and my owner's manual does not tell how to add additional codes to the keyless entry system. My dad's Lincoln owners manual gives the following steps:
1. Enter factory code
2. Within 5 seconds, press 1/2
3. Enter new 5 digit personal code
The code is on the Gem module located under the dash, right behind the brake pedal. There is a tag with the code facing out. I got mine for my 2000 from there.
I agree with Turbo, any dealer can get the accurate code by using a scan tool and looking at a PID (tech will know what that means) called "keycode". Bad news is you can't change it, it's programmed into the RAP module.
I am a Ford Tech who works for a dealer...The code is on the RAP....Small white box under dash behind brake pedal.....This is not the GEM....THe GEM is attached to the back of the fuse box...
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 22-Oct-02 AT 04:15 PM (EST)]It's actually a black box with a white label. On my '99, I had to lay upside down in the seat, and shove my head under the brake pedal. Look up toward the side mirror, and you will see a black box with a bunch of numbers and barcodes, and gibber-jabber on it. Five unlabeled numbers stand out prominently. That's the number. Write it down and try it out! Then you can add your own number, if you don't like theirs.
(By "unlabeled" I mean that there's nothing that says "This is your top secret code".)
My 98 expidition has white box/white tag with the code on it. The 5 numbers stand out, you can't miss them. I've been looking for this (not all that hard) for two years. thanks FTE's
Need a little help. I have a 2000 Excursion. I have looked everywhere under the dash next to the brake pedal, for the door code, but cannot find it. I have read every threat that has been posted on this site. Any addiditonal ideas, short of paying a dealer to find it for me?
