rearend slipping?

rearend slipping?
My problem is kind of hard to explain,but I will give it a shot.On my 01 sd 5.4,when i come to a complete stop, and then take off normal it feels like the rearend has alot of play in it or the u-joints are bad or something.It does'nt make any kind of clunking noise.Could the brakes be hanging up a little?It has done this since about 70,000 miles,now I have 96,000.The driveshaft does'nt seem to have any play in it at all.Anybody else have this problem?

Have you lubed the splined shaft on the driveshaft? You might want to do that first.
Other than that you might want to jack up the rear and see if you have a limited slip rear diff. Both tires sip the same way...

My '99 and '04 both have a funny kind of 'shudder' in the driveline when you go from a stop. Everything is tight, I've had the '99 from day one and the '04 is mine for a year. Another thing I notice is sometimes when rolling into the driveway I'll pop it in neutral and coast to a stop and there is a definite 'pop' in the drivetrain. I always chalked it up to the torque 'unwrapping'.

Sounds like classic slip shaft problems. If they are two piece shafts on the trucks it is the shaft hanging up as it lenthens and contracts as the pinion rotates when the springs wrap and unwrap.
