Magnaflow , after researching and reading all the replies. I found the best price anywhere for the #16616 SI/DO in front of rear wheel from Wholesale Performance Exhaust on E-Bay $475.00 including shipping! you can make an offer. I got my setup for $450 with free shipping
OK Guys the new Magnaflow arriv4ed yesterday. I installed it last night in about an hour and a half. The sound is exactly what I wanted. Nice and low with a throaty rumble but not too loud. The Magnaflow 16616 looks and sounds great! Thanks for all of the advice!
I have the magnaflow 16616 installed too and love it, they are cheaper on ebay but I wanted a warranty (the salt on the roads here in winter kills an exhaust) so I got it here magflow 16616, or you can try one of the vendors here, they are always running sales/specials. either way its a great system and very easy to install.
I installed a Corsa catback on my 04 Screw..It has no drone and the tone is nice and mellow. Not loud at all. I would definitely recommend Corsa to anyone.
I was tempted to go with Magnaflow but I had a magnaflow catback on my Denali XL an the drone drove me crazy. Didn't want to make the same mistake twice
From my experience the drone only happens with certain cai and muffler combos. I only have a drone when i put my k&n cai on with my flowmaster suv muffler. Take cai off and no drone. My 2 cents
I installed a new SS Magnaflow 4" system on my
2000 E350 Extended Conversion-van aka. My
Mobile Livingroom.
Right away I noticed I had the drone sound, and in the vans it's
much worse than the trucks.
So I wrapped the entire exhaust with Thermo-Tec 2" Header Heat Tape
(Natural Color) and I wrapped from the downpipe to the tip including the round stainless muffler.
The drone was gone immediately. The inside of the van is very quiet, best 120.00 I spent. It's so quiet inside the vehicle no one even notices and issues. All I hear is the turbo whistle going out the back and a little under the doghouse, but the 2" wrap does the job.
After 11 years there are no issues, if the wrap gets wet the water repels
off the tape wrap. The Thermo-tec brand is high quality.
The instructions say to wrap the [pipe 1/4" at the edge. I called my friend Rick Hendrick (the Nascar owner, that Rick) and he told me to wrap the pipes as tight as I want to, it will not hurt anything. So we wrapped the pipes around 50% lap, like right in the middle as we rolled it on. We were generous with it. The van has 2 layers of dynamat inside also and that helps, rubberized on the undercarriage over Q-Pads.
If you have the dreaded drone and really want it gone, wrap the exhaust.
It also helped insulate the pipe as it's very close to the Transferflow Aux fuel tank.
