I am planning on putting on an exhaust system on my truck. It is a 2002 F-150 Supercrew with the 5.4. I've seen the Gibson systems and the Flowmaster systems on Summit and seen them in Magazines. I want something that is quiet in the cab and sounds good but not to loud. The Gibson system I'm looking at is a Swept side. Its quiet in cab and good sound it says. The Flowmaster system is a Delta Force II. Its quiet and has nice sound it says. Anyone know or have any of the systems on your truck.
I've had both flowmaster and gibson. I had the dual sport gibson on my 95-300. Now I have a 40 series flowmaster on my 95-302. I think quality wise, the gibson is better. The dual sport was loud on accleration, and nice on the cruise, good system.
I like the way the Flowmaster Force II system sounds. I drove my buddies truck (F-150 w/4.6) for about a week and it was nice. Had a nice bark on start-up and had a good sounding idle. When cruising it was mellow sounding and you could hardly hear it. When on the gas it was fairly loud but not obnoxious... a head turning sound!
Thanks for the input. I know a guy has a truck just like mine. He has a 3 chamber flow I think. I'm going to look at his truck and listen to it again to see if I like it.
I had the Gibson catback on my '01 5.4 extend cab short bed and I loved the sound. It was quiet in the cab, and gave a nice deep rumble. Ive also owned Flowmaster 70 series. Both are very good picks. The Gibson was the newest I had. If the incab sound is very important, go with the Gibson.

Call Flowmaster and ask them which muffler come in the system. I wouldn't think it would be the 70 Series. That what came w/ my cat-back and its supposed to be one of the mellowest sounding muffler that they make. And I can vouch for that. But if thats how u want it, get it.
Please post your decision and the reasoning, if possible a wav file. I am in the same boat on making the decision, but with a 2001 SuperCrew 5.4L. I am looking for low noise inside, deep agreesive thunder outside. (looking for more torque too)
I just installed a Gibson single swept side on my F-150 Off Road with a 5.4... This is a very quiet system.. I expected it to be a bit louder as it has 3" pipe. But it is not much louder than stock...I'm not sure about the increase in power yet. It has been raining and snowing around here and the tires will break loose very easily.. Installation was pretty easy and straight forward.
I'll let you know when the roads dry up a little if it feels a little more powerful or not...
Let me know how the swept side peforms. I am looking to buy one this month. Ideally I wanted it a bit lowder than stock but not alot. Have you had somone else dirve the truck so you can see how it sounds?? How does the sytem look on the truck? Is it noisy in the cab??
Chris,
The system sounds pretty quiet in the cab. I have the extended cab, short box... Is a little louder than stock in the cab. I have not heard it from outside yet. I'll drive it behind our shop with the passenger side window down to see how it sounds.. I can tell you that it does not rap like a flowmaster. It sounds like a low mellow tone. I did not want something real loud. I also did not want dual pipes out the back like almost every other truck out there..Seems like every one has those now....
I like the way it looks on the truck. It comes with a 3 1/2" SS tip and 3" tubing. It fits good and was pretty easy to install.
I'll let you know how it performs as soon as soon as the roads dry up...
