I just installed a Gibson Dual Sport exhaust on my truck a few days ago. I was reluctant to getting it due to a lot of others complained it was too quiet. Contrary to what everyone else says about it being quiet almost like stock, I would strongly disagree. Overall I'm very happy with the sound and look of it. It is extremely deep sounding at idle and while cruising you can definitely hear it singing a tune. Doesn't sound like any other truck around which is a huge plus. When I accelerate and put my foot into it to keep it just above the 2400RPM range it sounds amazing! One of the things I'm not so happy about is the drone around the 2200 RPM range. This is a bit harsh when accelerating to the point you cannot converse with someone else. I'm concerned with towing where I will be primarily in 5th gear. I had a Flowmaster single system on my last F150 and couldn't stand the drone while pulling a travel trailer. Once you get to speed and into 6th gear, its all good though. I am looking to possibly swap out the muffler with something that doesn't have the drone to it but want to retain the dual tailpipes. Being my truck is an 09 with a 5.4, it does not have the resonator in front of the muffler like the 5.0s do. I was wondering if anyone with the 5.0 has the same issue with the drone on take off? I may even consider dropping in a resonator to see if that would help. Any thoughts?
