i'm no help, because i need to do the same thing.... what style bumper do you have? can you take some picture of the front without the bumper on? i'm going to make a winch plate that sits behind the bumper (hidden) and the fairlead will come out where the license plate is, but i just want a good pic of the front without the bumper( and maybe the pic of the frame rails) so i can start planning in my head how to design the plate before i take the bumper off...
i've got this one and have to paint it: but going to wait till summer when the weather is warmer..... do you have this style or the chrome one?
makomarine, my front looks the same as your except my truck is white, I was thinking about painting it or useing Line-X or buy a chrome front bumper.
Im going to be doing this soon I hope Its going to snow tonight in Chicago about 6" so now going to have to wait till it melts.

i was thinking of doing chrome;however, i like our style of bumper....(looks "sportier" to me i guess)...
I got a quote of $300 to take it off blast it, prime it & paint... for now when the weather breaks i'm just going to leave it on sand and paint it myself for $40... then when i do the winch later this summer i'll blast and prime it myself and then have it painted the right way.....
ya i'm in detroit so looks like we are in the same weather "boat" as far as mother nature is concerned...
Ya I dont know when the "REAL" is comming. I have a compressor and a paint gun but never used the paint gun yet, Im going to try it on some scrap before I paint the bumper. I dont know if I should use car paint or Rustoleum paint. My trim on my Expy is like dark gray, but might change it to gloss black.

i have to say even thought i'd need some pics behind the bumper... why don't you just try out duplicolor "rattle cans" from autozone.... i was going to do that when the guy told me it was going to be $300 for my bumper;however, seems that the my color that i'm so fond of is a PITA to find in a rattle can (duplicolor doesn't make it) ... i have had great luck with duplicolor especially when doing just the little part of our bumpers.....
PREP IS EVERYTHING!!.. i was just going to tape everything off, sand it down, silver bullet it, rattle can paint, the rattle can clear... it's all on there site... and it will only cost you $30 tops for everything and you can have it done in a few hours.... and white is an easy color to shoot (easy to hide imperfections especially on a bumper)...
but hey i want to get some pics from behind the bumper so you be the ginnee pig and paint it right by taking it off!! LOL....
duplicolor kicks *** i think you'd be happy with it.... i found a source online that will put my color in a rattlecan so i'm going to do it that way and if it looks as good as i think it will when i put the winch underneath i may just rattle it again after sandblasting the whole thing....
question: is your rear bumper gray also? i'm going to do the same body color on the rear also since that is real easy to do on the truck.. just take the plastic cover off, prep and shoot....
Ya my rear bumper is gray, I dont know what im going to do I like to paint my front the same color gray which I found a close match. As for taking off my front bumper im going to have to take a look under it to see how hard it would be.

The front bumper is very easy to take off. It is easier to take off the 2 nuts that hold the bumper bracket to the plate.the plate has 4 bolts, But for me it was easier to do the 2 per side and they went back without adjusting the bumper height. You have to get to the nuts from under the truck. ope this helps
Thanks Jimmygunz3, Im going to do this when it gets a little warmer here "Chicago IL"
so far it hasnt hit 60 degrees yet. Where is the real spring?
