Maybe on a stock turbo, but with my ported housing I have no more superwoosh, and with the bigger A/R on the exhaust side my boost map is completely different than the wastegated stocker.

Just got my filter today. Very impressed with it. Only down side is I bought the whole kit, and I cant get the clamps to work. I dont have the CCV mod yet, so the other end is not lining up right neither. Took it out for a drive and it was a little nicer then the old 6637 I had. I am gonna call and see if I am doing something wrong while I am trying to line everything up. All in all it is worth the extra money to get this filter instead of the reg. 6637, IMHO.

So does anything need to be done for this to fit?

Not much, a small 4" length of 4" exhaust pipe needs to be used as a sleeve between the stock filter tube and the filter inlet, and you need to remove p[art of the old airbox.

If you have read any threads on the 6637 mod then this is the same thing, it just happens to be a reusable washable oiled media filter.
to see some of the 6637 install threads look here www.7point3.com click the mods and maintenace link.

I'm not Brandon, but I did use that exact AFE filter on my conversion. Been since November, approx 10K miles, and it's working great so far.

oh wow, I completely missed this post 12 days ago. Sorry. Filter has been great, cleaned and oiled once (I driving my truck alot less these days) and with Petes cover it was still very clean.

2 UOAs done since filter install (35K miles ago) and I only get about 3-5 PPM of silicone per report, so I would say it is working as it should.

Thanks for taking up my slack Jeremy. How have things been lately?

I think Brandon has been found. I'm not sure quite who I am anymore.

Yeah, it's been a while. I post when I can (although rarely here anymore), but I'm only on the fourms once every week or two.

You're welcome. Things have been crazy busy. In addition to still selling Schaeffer's, back in March I partnered up with a friend of mine to become part owner and GM of a landscaping and lawncare business here in town. It's an upstart business, so there's a lot of stuff to get going, not to mention what I'm learning with the specifics of the nature of the business. I've been running ragged for the last two months, working 10-14 hours a day, six days a week, doing mostly physical work outdoors. I've gained a new respect for business owners and anyone who works hours like that. Free time simply doesn't exist.

What forums are you on at this time? I loved the CR conversion thread and i'm thinking of making a 4-5 year project out of it. I got about that much time left on my 7.3. so it would be cool to have a forum of some sort that I could really start reading on and learning about my options..

Also, what is the name of your business? I used to have a customer up in Columbia that had his own landscaping business..

Thanks..

I don't know if I"m supposed to say this here, but mainly PSN, and I occasionally post/read on the Cummins Forum and DTR.

I am in charge of the lawn and landscaping section of the Braik Brothers tree and lawn care. We're pretty much an all inclusive company that can take care of any tree, brush, lawn, or landscaping needs that someone may have. I don't have anything to do with the tree stuff though, just the landscaping and lawncare.

There are so many different lawncare companies this year, it's crazy, with a lot of mom and pops that are just one guy running around. I've never seen this many in Columbia. I think a lot of it came from the fact that a lot of people out of work in their typical line of employment and decided to start mowing lawns. I anticipate a lot of them disappearing once the economy turns around and these guys can find job in their usual line of work.

Just got mine yesterday and I'm defnitely blown away by this thing...

Before I go into it, I gotta brag on Clay of Riffraff Diesel: I called him up last week because I was long overdue for a new filter and decided to pull the trigger on the Big Boost. He was out of stock for a few days, but he said to pay for it and he'll expedite the shipping for me, but expect it about a week after May 5th. Not so....I get home late last night and see big box sitting at my front door; it's my Big Boost filter! The man not only expedited the shipping but got it too me way sooner than I expected! Great Job Clay!

With that out of the way...I installed it last night and my filter must've been filthy becuase as soon as took my truck for a ride it was like brand new truck! The turbo-whoosh was considerably louder and my truck definitely pulled harder. I'll see what mpg gains I get out of it, but I'm VERY happy about my purchase and recommend everyone follow suit!
