Ok guys, another up-pipe thread. I just made a 325 mile drive and really could tell at times how much pressure that I was losing so now I need to order them "but" now the questions are which ones? Do any of them stand out? Pro's and Con's? etc. Also, install difficulty on different styles, does the turbo have to be removed? Is the ceramic really that noticable in performance?
You want International bellowed up-pipes and Clay at Riffraff will probably get you the best pricing on them. You can get them ceramic coated if you desire. It will keep more heat in the pipes instead of allowing it to dissipate.
The Ford up-pipes use a rubber crush type donut to seal them and keep them from leaking. The Internationals use a metal gasket to seal them so they'll never leak again after you install them. Once you've done them once you won't want to do them again. Fortunately once the bellowed Ih pipes are in you never need to do them again.
Make sure you've got PLENTY of PB Blaster or other penetrating oil on hand to soak those bolts for a while before you start the project. A heat source (ie: torch) may be a helpful tool if you've got a rust belt truck like I do.
Also a good time to delete your EBPV, mine was leaking like crazy, I got it all gutted today, not to hard. And like said, soak everything down good with penetrating oil, get the clamp at the back of the turbo really good.
