Not shocking, and another good reason why I do all my own work.

It's too bad this kind of stuff happens. I do all my own maintanence. You need to build a relationship of trust with one place and stick with them. I found that works well, for both of us. I hope those cheats rot in hell!

Thats why I never go to big chain maintance places and stealerships. I got a local mechanic that is a friend that will do the big stuff for me but the rest I'll just do it my self heh.

I am glad I go to a local dealer for my stuff. They're locally owned, give my whole family a discount, and they let me watch over!!!

A friend of mine had a sub amp stolen out of his truck when his wife took it in for service at one of our Jiffy-Lubes around here. It was very clear where someone had just clipped the wires and took the amp. He ended up getting a check for the amp, but it was a royal pain for him to get it. After that, he's done all of his own oil changes.

It's really a shame that stuff like that goes on. Good thing they got caught this time. That just goes to show what everyone already suspected that they say you need something, and then never do it.

We have a quick oil change around here, that ive only heard bad things about. But they send up business to the garage ive worked at since i was 17 occaisionally now, up the street. So its one of those things, we would never tell someone to go there, and just take the business they try to "sell". I have heard a lot of horror stories about the place though.

A couple of years ago, a good friend took his car into a local service station here in Oak Harbor to have the oil and filter changed as he did not have the time to do it himself. He went into the waiting room and had hardly sat down to read a magazine when they came in to let him know the change was done. He was wondering how they did it so quick, but paid the bill and went out to the car. Still wondering, he popped the hood and checked the dipstick. It had new oil on the top and old on the bottom. They had changed the filter and added a quart. That was it. He took the evidence to the manager and he denide it!!!! Took a huge argument and some threats before he got them to do it right. Needless to say, he does not go back and there are a few of us who make it known how they do business. They are still in business!!
If you are going to have someone else do the work on your car, make damn sure you know this person and that he has a good reputation, at the least. I also do not have my vehicles worked on if I cannot see what they are doing. It pays to know your mechanic! Jim

I'd burn the store down.

Our companies accountants son went to work for Jiffy Lube. The only thing he knew about cars was where to put the gas in. They gave him a whole 3 hour training class which consisted of them showing him how to remove the drain plug and how to unscrew an oil filter and how to put them back in. In his first week there he drained 2 transmissions by removing the wrong plug. They knew he drained the tranny when they went to refill the oil and it was already full on the dipstick! He got fired on his third week there when he forgot to refill a car with oil and it locked up just a couple of miles from the store.
