I dont have a problem sparing rthe money for Michelins, but they dont have the look I am after. Nobody chimed in that the 285's arer bad on the 7" rim, so looks like Ill do that with the AT KO.
This thread came up at just the right time. I to have to put a new set all the way around on my X. Been looking strongly at goin with the Good Year Wrangler Silent Armours myself.
Hard for me to change from the BFG's since I now have 80K on the originals and still have a lot of tread left....
previous vehicles by now would have been on their 3rd set
(my wife's new lil sports car's tires barely lasted 25k - but she does like those corners !!!! )
Do the 285's seem to fill the wheel well nicely? Everytime i look at my X it looks like i have to small a tires on it. Anyone got pic's in there gallery?

I noticed you have a 32' TT in your signature line - I would be hesitant to put any tires on the Ex other than what the manufacturer calls for. The taller tires will exacerbate any inherent problems with towing. With the large (and expensive) TT in tow safety concerns should overcome any desire for a cosmetic enhancement.
Well went out and bought new rubber for my X. Ended up goin with the GY SA Pro's 10ply. Was goin to move up to the 285's but decided to just stick with the 265's.
So far i love them. Even feels like the steering wheel is a bit tigher. Have only driven on them for roughly 20miles, but 4 miles of that is some decent S curve's while goin up/down hill. Was able to go my usual speed, 60mph in a posted 45mph curve.
I had one guy warn me about so called tire noise he said he got when he had some on his jeep. Personally what noise there is i like. Then again i used to drive a '74 GMC lifted 6"s with 35's, now that was some great tire howling at 70mph.
Thinking seriously about keeping a log down in the tire section. And keeping it up to date till i have to replace them.
