Ye old Boggers
Anyone ever rode a 4 wheeler on outlaws? Going slow, you feel every lug.... going a good speed it's not to bad.
Since I don't have a torch (just one of those small propain bottle torchs), what would be better.... sawzall or buy a couple bottles and use the chizel anyway?
When I get enough money, I'll do some mods to the engine then cut some 38.5x15 boggers and chromo shafts, and......(winch)
Dam expensive *&%^&*%$*&!

the propane torches would work just fine if you can get teh chisel red hot.....
So sawzall goes to slow?
but if you dont feel confident with a chisel and a torch a metal blade with little to no teeth works good as well....

Cut only the small lug out using a swazall to cut the main part of the tread down to the carcass. Get a tire groover (looks like a big hot knife) to finish the job. It will take quite a while to do all 4 tires, too!
Not picking on your 4.0, but Kris is right. Turning regular swampers with that 4.0 is not a big deal, heck you should be able to turn regular boggers with good results in the mud. However when you start cutting space between the lugs, you get into the AG tire terratory and the more open spacing in the tread means it grips a whole lot more, which needs more hp/tqe to make those tires perform in the mud. My 95 with a mild built 351w has ran several 7.6 second, 200' passes in the bogs on 38.5x11 boggers, but when I tried a set of cuts, the time slowed some as I had much more grip, and not enough power to spin them the same as the un-cuts. Just food for thought......
So would you say there is a BIG difference in bite when you cut them? I want to throw concrete block sized chunks of mud. I need the tires to clean out better. Now they dont start slingin until 12 to 15mph of tire speed. I want them to clean out at less than 10mph.
And to everyone else, I do not care about street legal. My tires are not balanced anyhow. It is not worth the effort to balance boggers. Only balance them with the heavy side of the rim, thats it. I dont even bother to balance TSLs either. Soap up the rim and put em on. They get out of balance in 100 miles anyhow with welded diffs. My wheelin spot is only about 10 miles from my house and I take it down the back roads. Any farther than 40 or 50 miles I pull it on a lawnmower trailer.
(Dont ask)The mud I am in is not like Florida mud or California mud. Think of 12 to 24 inch deep play dough. The scit sticks to the tires like epoxy reisen. Most mud will clean out at 5 to 10 mph. This is the worst stuff I have ever seen. When I start side hilling up the trails it is hard to get enough wheel speed to keep the tires clean and not run into trees/rocks. This is my predicament. I am willing to cut a $1000 set of tires if it will get the results I want.
And Boggers are not meant for the street anyhow. IMHO they are a competition tire meant for modification. Driving a truck with Boggers on the street is about the same as riding a ATV down the road with some Swamper Vampires.
Anyhow keep the opinions coming. Apprecitated very much, thank you.

bwahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!! YEA RIGHT! These things pack in loose dirt, POS TIRES! Ride good on the pavement though, as long as its dry!
Sorry for thread hijacked, but as a PROUD owner of some bfg shovels, i thought i should enlighten yall to how awesome they truly ARNT!
Bogs are different.
What I am talking about is like half dried out pizza dough, with Honda sized rocks buried underneath and to either side of you a 2000 ft drop to death down a mountain. Gets scary when the tires dont want to grip when I try to make an off camber uphill turn, the truck wants to go strait and no turning. It sux. Throw in a mix of oak trees and boulders, and you can start to get an idea of what I am talking about.
You must have control of ure vehicle.

How deep is the tread 2/32 or something like that. Must be awesome.
