i have seen a truck with this done but i have no idea whats involved with the swap, however i doubt the motor mounts would work, there would probably be a great deal of fab work. if you live in an emission testing state, you wouldn't get it to pass inspection, the truck i saw was used for mud runs

There's a guy on here with a 460 in his '97 or '98 too! Why are you wanting to do this swap?

I dont understand why you dont want to keep your 4.2, i mean those things are rockets .
But on a more serious note, if it was me id rather sell my truck and buy a f-150 with the 5.4 in it....because its going to be a pain to swap.

...but even harder is the 5.0L carbber he's wanting to swap in! You'll have to fab motor mounts, tranny crossmember, fab up a driveshaft, fab up throttle linkages, make fuel tank modifications and fuel line modifications. I'd just trade the truck off for a 4.6 or 5.4, the older ones with 100k+ miles are pretty affordable to anyone.

Simple (= basic stick welder and chop saw work) enough except for the driveshaft, and you might get away with switching yokes although that may need a "bisexual" universal joint.

Thumbs down Engine swap

Not to mention the fact that he is going to be working in a very cramped engine compartment.
