I have a 2006 350 w/ 39k miles. I am experiencing multiple problems which are: When at a steady speed between 55 and 65 it feels like the eninge is "surging" feels like hitting bumps in the road, which are not there. The second problem is that some times when under heavy acceleration or under load, theres a high pitched noise coming from what sounds like the turbo, sounds kind of like air leaking. And yet another problem is very hard starting when its not even that cold out, and when its cold out if its not plugged in it can take 6-7 attempts to get it to start and not die. And to top it all off i think the ignition safety switch on the gear shift lever is starting to fail.
Any thaughts or suggestions would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks, Sean.
i agree with the first two, i forgot to change my fuel filters and had similar problems, surging, troulbe starting, but not the noise. i would change the filters yourself first then take it in. otherwise they will change filters first and charge you 150 dollars. then they will got to the 100 deductible to fix any other problem.
good luck
I had a similar acting 6.0 when the EGR valve was sticking. I have run Diesel Kleen with most tanks or at least every other tank and no problems since and that was 40K ago.
My truck was doing the same thing surging and they replaced 3 injectors. But now its doing the same thing again. I replace the filters every 15k. Just have to find time to get it into the shop again. I just hate to have my truck sitting there. Last time it was in I made the apt. for a Monday. They didnt actually start work on it till Thursday and that was probly because i told them i needed the truck for the weekend if not it would have sat there another week.
I live in mi and am 8 miles from the only ford dealer thats open monday morning 7am-friday night 6pm 24Hour service and parts.and they even have mechanics working

JROSCO6,
Do you have any idea what might be causing the injector problems?
Since you have some gauges, do you monitor fuel pressure? It would be interesting to know what was going on w/ the pressure.
Also, do you use any fuel additives for lubricity?
Last - have you ever run out of fuel AND do you use the "key cycle" procedure before starting up after a filter change?
Sorry about the problems you guys are having and (to the OP), sorry about hijacking the thread a little ............. I really hate to hear about injector problems that can't be traced to anything!!!
Well i changed the fuel filters and i think it solved that problem. Now my next concern is that high pitched air escaping noise that i fear is coming from the turbo. And on a side note, If i ever meet the engineer that thaught it was a better idea to put the fuel filter on the inner frame rail under the front floor board, next to the transmission cross member instead of just moving it back 5 feet on the frame i am going to..well we'll just keep what i'll do as a suprise for that....person.
Bismic, The tecs have no idea. I have never run out of fuel and i do cycle the key 5 or 6 times after replacing Motorcraft filters. I was using an additive (Power Service)but I have not in a while. No fuel pressure guage.

Thanks for the reply. I sure hope this will be the last round for you to get the injector situation / surging resolved permanently.
I am very anxious for April to get here. They should have new software for the DashDAq (I am told). The thing I am looking forward to the most is being able to track fuel pressure (and later on, installingthe return regulated fuel system).
