Better get a pyrometer if you won't already. Truck will pull it. You won't win any races but it should have an easier time than the old truck. Also you might need to add leave to the springs or some air bags even with the F-superduty it will need a little help in the rear suspension

Hey fellas, for what it's worth, I've got the water well pulling rig built on a 97 superduty(450). I think the total weight is somewhere around 14 thousand pounds, sittin in the driveway. It pulls fine up long grades,(5spZF), may have to leave it in 4th if you dont stay up on the pipe on the approach. I've pulled trailers and loads adding another 4-6 K, avts the very same. It does have like a 4.88 rear gear however, or maybe even 530something, I forget. Jay
i pull trailers in the 8-9k range all the time with 5sp/4.10's up and down hills no prob, on steep grades you somtimes have to downshift out of 5th to 4th but not often at all. if its all in the bed id be wanting to do somthing to help out the rear suspention
the most i've towed (remember it's been awhile since it was stock so my memory might be a little hazy from all the soot) is about 13k.... with the truck stock it had no problem pulling it!!! up steep or long hills it would have to downshift out of overdrive but that's about it..... our 9k snowmobile trailer would also have to downshift out of overdrive up long long steep hills.... now i can lug it up from 35mph in overdrive in the towing tune wihle keeping the EGTs under 800 degrees (post turbo) and hit over 100 by the end of a mile long hill..... once it gets above 40 it won't downshift.... unless i floor it
