Power Stroke Power ????

I Ask This Before But Didnt Get Much Response. I Had A 1980 Ford F-350 With A 400 Big Block In It Pulling A Asphalt Tank That Weighed About 5500 Lbs Full And Some Extra's With A Total Weight Of About 7000 Lbs. This Truck Pulled It Ok But When Starting Up Hills It Didnt Have Much Power. I Just Bought A 1996 Ford F-450 Power Stroke Turbo Diesel 7.3. Will I See A Difference In Power, I Am New To Diesels And Never Owned One. Many Suggestions Would Be Appriciated.

Thanks All.

The difference in power will be noticable but the biggest difference will be fuel milage. I bet on a good day that 400 got 8-9 mpg, maybe even less. I bet your 7.3 will get with that 7000 lbs behind it anywhere between 10-12 mpg

do you have a tranny cooler? if not, get one. if the truck was low miles (50,000-120,000ish) i would suggest a good torque convertor so the rest of your tranny would be good for a LONG time. the first part to go in these trannies is the torque convertor. if not for it, the rest would last a long time if used properly.

It Has 196000 Miles On It. I Already Put A Fuel Pump And Water Pump On It. I Was Just Wondering How Noticable The Power Wil Be Because That 400 Took All It Had To Get Moving.
