You might have to put the body on a Ranger chassis, but I am sure you guys could come up with another solution too. (convert the FWD to a RWD set up with transfercase and front driveline/axle).
Monster Garage made a 4x4 Vette, so I guess anything is possible!
Take another tempo and chop the rear end of the one off and then graft the
engine, transaxle onto the rear of that one. Basically have 2 motors and two
tranmissions and two steerable axles!! A hydraulic setup for the rear steering
with a joystick control like a monster truck for spinning around in it's own
length maybe would be cool for tight trails(lock out at 15mph) A fly by wire
system would have to be rigged up for the gas pedal and use a couple linear
actuators or servos and a drive circuit that was hooked to the tachometer and
also feed by the speed sensor so you could synchronize the two motors and trans.
This would be the best way to go and just think if you blow up one motor you
can still get home just throw the dead one into neutral and drive out.
Extending the cv joints and lenthning the arms so you can remount the struts to
a lower spot and raise the ride height. A under carriage glide plate will help to get
across stuff instead of catching and stopping you. A roll cage put in after you
chop the back end off will protect you and help with chassis strength with the
graft.
