My truck is in serious need of new cab bushings. Ive been reading around the web about poly compared to rubber and I still cant make up my mind which ones id like to use. Some people say that the polys give you a harsher ride. Does anyone have experience with the polys on these trucks?
Son just installed a set of the aftermarket urethane cab bushings in his 92 350 w 7.3IDI The engine vibes are more prevelant but cant say about ride quality as ride quality is an oxymoron when applied to his 137"WB f350 FWD cab/chassis with flatbed.
Im leaning more towards the poly as they are far cheaper than the rubber mounts. Do you know if he had to replace any of the hardware along with the mounts?

His 92 is a 55k mile rust free jewel so he didnt need any hardware. The kit came from a local off road store, purdy sure it was $75 OTD
only reason you should need new hardware is if yours is really rusted, mainly the front core supports take the bulk of abuse, they collect dirt and water right where the bolt is, check it out and order if needed
yikes! nope! i put a body lift on my old truck and all of my bolts came right out, i haven't had to drill them nor do i know how you would be drilling them, its a big nut and a big bolt? what do you drill?
Had a friend that put poly on his and it was fine on surface roads but when out on dirt roads he told me the ride was terrible, so he changed back to rubber bushings on the cab.
Well lucky for me there arent too many dirt roads around here. I just ordered the poly set from Summit.
Joe, I read a few posts over on the dieselstop where some people had to drill the bolt out. Mine dont look too bad so hopefully they will come out.
I just purchased a 97 f350 Crew Cab. My bushing under the rear passenger side of the cab, right above the exhaust pipe, where the cab meets the frame is wasted. Has anyone attempted to replace those? Can I just jack up the rear of the cab and slip in the new bushing? Is this a problem because it is near the exhaust? Thanks.
If I may can I offer a different point of view. It seems to be the general consencious that rubber bushings are all around smoother and the harder poly and more harsh.
Your truck (s) are 13+- years old and had OEM rubber bushings that are just now wearing out. I would venture to say that the replacement rubber bushings are made of a higher grade of material than the OEM's of yesteryear.
Are you going to be driving that truck in another 13 years? why would you even consider replacing bushings that would give a harsher ride?
