Polyurethane Bushings

Back in the day I changed out one of my truck front end bushings with poly bushings. They squeaked so damn bad I traded the truck in that year instead o replacing them. I need to change the bushings on my 93 F150 because they are dry rotted and failed. What is the opinion on which way I should go? Mainly the radius arm bushing at present but I have the right wheel about 1 inch behind the left wheel so it may be more than that. What do you guys think?

I think rubber is better than poly until it isn't. Rubber doesn't give quite as tight a front end either, but generally these trucks are pretty good as long as they aren't worn out. Rubber will wear out faster than poly, but it you only get another 15 years or so out of it before you have to replace them again will you be upset?

I was thinking the same. I do not want a squeaky truck for my daughter. Got the rear brakes, the leaking rear end and the leaking power steering hose changed out today. Tomorrow I get the AC done and I got a quote to reupholster the bench seat and doors today. I will show photos when its done. I saw his job on a BMW, you guys are going to **** a brick.

15 years? I don't know what I did wrong, but rubber radius arm bushings failed me much faster than that. I now run poly, with no squeaks, and all my front end bushings were changed to poly close to 2 years ago. On top of that, the truck has been pushed off road harder than ever before. Poly tightened up the truck for sure. No regrets here.

I put a set of poly bushings in last summer. Here recently had to replace again. The plastic cup or spacer or whatever it's called didn't last. Fingers crossed lol.

I replaced all the bushings in the front and the rear sway bar with poly in my '94 Bronco when I first bought it. I put 100K squeak free miles on it over 5 years. I had never replaced axle pivot bushings until this truck and the poly really tightened up the front end

Did you grease the poly bushings with the right grease ?

I put poly in the radius arms of my '89 and it never squeaked. They need some kind of lubrication upon installation.
Oil would degrade the rubber, but poly needs grease to allow smooth movement.

I've used Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings 3 times and on 2 different trucks and would not consider going back to rubber. I did not grease the radius arm bushing and they have never squeaked. For the axle pivot bushing I have always used anti seize. The sticky grease that comes with the bushings never seems to last. I learned that from using it on rear spring shackles.

I had a 97 Ford F150 and I put all poly on shocks, bushings etc and I lubricated everything repeatedly. It was so embarrassing to go thru and parking lot etc. I dealt with it until I could not stand it anymore then traded it for a 2001 model. I am going with the Moog parts but mainly because they come with all of the hardware that none of the polyurethane bushings do. I want to put as much new stuff on the truck as possible because the old metal has to be fatigued.
