Gauges package question???
Here are some pics of an outside view that you PM'd me about.
The first is standing by the front bumper. Can't really notice them with the window tint stripe across the top. But you can sure see the uggly Pikepass toll road sensor!

Here is a close up...... boy is that pikepass ugly
Stroken,
I had the same concerns before I bought them last fall, folks on this site helped answer my questions about the gauge pod & gauges I was looking at.....Just passing on the help. I didn't have to remove the headliner in my situation, I was able to stuff & push...
Here's the interesting thing... each one of these vendors were buying their gauges from the exact same Asian manufacturing plant, so all of them are essentially identical to each other except for which company name/logo appears on the gauge face.
As I kept asking around, the apparent understanding in the gauge selling communicty is that the blackout gauges were originally targeted towards the small sports car customizing market. The gauges are disappearing because that entire market segment has been "drying up" and reducing investments in their vehicles.
I need to go ahead and finish buying the ones I want before they're all gone.

Everyone around here loves the blackout look. I did have a glowshift gauge for all of 2 days before i sold it. Compared to the aforementioned brands, it just felt and looked so much like something you would win at a carnival.
When are you going to post some pics Pete?
The gauges are still sitting on the shelf in my garage. [head hanging very lowly, scuffing the ground with shoes]...
Really, I started making my filter covers back in October to pick up some spare change for mods... trouble is that real life budget increases for the family and rampant increases in orders for covers have done two things for me... the first is a nearly complete consumption of what "pocket change" I'm getting from the covers, and second is a complete consumption of any time I had wanted to use for modding the truck just so I can keep making covers to "cover" family expenses.
That's the long-winded answer that means the same thing as ... "I don't know".
I'm really hoping to start chiseling out one weekend a month to work on the truck. I know that I have one more set of ball joints to install (driver side), and need to do it before the truck demands that it be done. I've also been working on plans for interior and exterior lighting improvements with some really neat LED applications that I've never seen anyone else do, and they will be cheap and easy, too. Then there are the existing two gauges, my plans for the over-dash custom made gauge pod, fan-boosted 6637 cold air box, front end leveling kit, GPR LED installation, extra set of rear backup lights, a new 6-switch "upfitter switch box" installation, my Marinco block heater plug mod, etc.... I wish I had about 3 weeks off to do this stuff all day every day.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
A) I've found a neat 6-switch upfitter switch box from a yacht application - roughly $89 for the complete switch and fuse combination, complete with a large labelling list - I might have to do some extra re-work on this kit, though, because I want the labels to be backlit for easy nighttime identiification
1- one switch for low foot-level LED lighting, both front and rear seating areas (for when someone drops something
2- one switch for just front floor lighting
3- one switch for just rear floor lighting
4- one switch for my backup lights as an "on-demand" accessory that bypasses the "reverse" shifter position switch
5- one momentary switch fro a future air horn application
6- one switch to light up two small white led's in the tiny open storage area under where the 4x4 switch goes
B) a single amber sealed outdoor LED (another boat sourced application) to be installed on the outer edge of my tow mirrors in the flat area between the top and lower mirror regions
C) two small white LED's, outdoor rated again, operated by a door pressure switch so that when I open the fuel door, the lights light up so I can see inside the fuel filler neck and not overflow when fueling in a poorly lit area at night
D) A series of LED lighting strips around the engine bay that can either operate witha little mercury switch on the hood or be shut off with a manual switch when leaving the hood open for extended periods in daylight.
.....
And I'm sure that I will come up with other ideas, but the ones above are CERTAINLY going to be done on my vehicle.
LOL, couldn't resist - you'll have to change your name to lite-brite...
