Desided to fire up the 351M in my 54 panel project today.I am getting ready to set the body back on and I wanted to make sure everthing was ok.Had run this same 351M/C6 combo before I started restoration.Just bought a brand new NAPA starter for it because I had used the old starter on another vehicle.It started up ok but the starter would not disengage.I took the starter back off and did some measuring.It seems to me that the starter drive teeth are engaged as soon as the starter is bolted up.Is this the wrong starter?Or am I missing something?Any ideas?

Probably wrong.

Does this starter have a number/manufacturer name on it?

Post it here,plus your exact application that it is needed for.

The NAPA part number is 152805 is this the number you are talking about? It is a rebuilt.The application is a 351M with a C6 dont know
the year for sure I think the C6 is a 79.Thanks

Wrong pinion, sounds like you have a small block Windsor pinion on there.

That number comes up as being a BAD number .

Just how many ford starters are there?I know there is a two bolt and a 3 bolt and auto or stick makes a difference.But I thought that was about it.I tried to find a NAPA site with part numbers but could not find it.Thanks for the help.
