You are right Tom, however, it just gets my goat when someone starts criticising the USA, and yes, I do know what it is like to live in a different country, I spent 4.5 years in the Philippine Islands. We may have our problems, but we are still the greatest thing going, if we weren't then how come we have people coming into our country by the droves. As for the comment about guns, I do go armed all the time, we are allowed where I live. Sorry, everybody, end of rant.

I honestly think disable when you park systems are better then tracking the disable systems.

You could be at an event, or a movie or something, and your phone might be off, or you can't hear your phone ringing, and by the time you finally realize somethigns wrong, or that company gets the call to you, that thief could have have already done what he wanted and set your truck on fire, plow it into another car, etc...

No problem Mike. I certainly agree with your reaction to national criticism, particularly from someone from another country...lumping us all together. Then again, from my studies it appears that most people of all nationalities and ethnic backgrounds tend to do that...until we get to know that other person. He77, even here within our own country we have our own preconceived notions...sometimes based on past experiences and other times just due to lack of experience.

The great thing about this forum...supportive information...from yankees, hippies, rednecks, suits, wheaties, yuppies...you name it...but from this interaction, we have the opportunity to share information, get to know others and for those capable of doing so...learning.

Have a great week ALL. ;-)

I worked

I worked a lot of years in the security industry, my comments about "lifes losers" - were directed at the Aussies, who in my experience would biatach and moan about their losses but seldom do anything constructive to make it any different.

I wrote from my own perspective, about my own countryfolk as a generalisation oberved over many years of people of my own kind, who never stop moaning about their losses - but likewise never do anything constructive to alter that situation.

Because I posted advice on a US forum, I stand accused of sleighting the entire U.S. nation - how self centred is that?

My F truck resides on the mainland, while I live on an Island. Since the surrounding countryside contains what in your nation might be termed an "injun reservation", (read lower socio economomic demograph) it's kinda handy having the alarm / tracking and disable function.

It allows me to track from here on the island when or where my vehicle is being broken into - towed or driven, such that I can call police and have them intercept it for me.

I use one in the boat for this reason. Where I live - we have Indonesian fishermen sailing down & poaching in our waters, who aren't adverse to stealing boats and or their contents. The same function the unit performs in my boat the other performs in my vessel.

The boat lives 24/7/365 on a swing mooring out on front of the island - should the mooring fail at any time due to the 20 ft Diurnal twice a day tidal surge or bad weather - theres a big chance the vessel will end it's days prematurely on the nearby rocks of adjacemnt islands if not this one.

Should it slip it's mooring, be broken into - or even be driven away - say in the middle of the night - the alarm will ring me - at least I have the option to go and save it in one of the dingys or our other center console boat BEFORE it washes up on the rocks.

The alternative?.... never sleep and stay up all night watching your boat!

We get cyclones- here - the equivalent of your hurricanes - this is the centre of so called cyclone alley! Both the boat and F truck are our means of evacuating 24 hours ahead of the cyclone, I simply cannot afford the risk of them not being whereI need them when I need them or quite simply people will die.

You cannot beat the peace of mind - in such a remote place, that having one of these alarms gives...whos gonna save my sorry azz way out here?

A simple switch doesn't replace what these units do for me in my situation!

Seeing is believing I guess!

Home....shame about the neighbors!

The boat

Where it would end up if it slips it's mooring - without the said alarm.

Why it might slip it's mooring - last weeks cyclone - this weeks missed us also thank goodness.

My neighbors on the manland and why I have an alarm in my Ftruck, which resides back on the mainland.

Please at least allow, that when I provided my advice I might have been writing from my own perspective in my onw nation. I only participate here because I drive a US made truck, because its required to tow my boat and few people in my nation do so - as a result I cannot get the advice I need re that truck anywhere else locally!

I try to participate here occasionally by offering advice based on my world experience - as a way of retruning the favor for the good advice I've recieved elsewhere on this forum about my truck and it's probable UVCH problem.

If thats a problem, I'll restrict my posts to only soliciting help for the immediate problem I have at the time with my own vehicle, and refrain from trying to assist anyone else with advice, regardless of what I know or have learned over the years, in any other field of endeavor.

I really am sorry I bothered replying to this topic!

Cheers

It was the way you took your own experence and tried to shove it down our throuth. Most of us don't have that problem here. When we go to a store around where I live we with diesels leave our trucks running while in the store. Just about every truck that comes to my store leaves the truck running while in here. Hell I don't take my keys out of my truck while at home. The only time I take my keys out of my truck is when I go to the city.

You made a good post here, compared to the last ones.

BTW: I welcome you to this fourm. Lets get a new start.

I agree with Rick. I appreciate everyone's experiences and knowledge, I just don't like being told that I am stupid and an idiot because I don't do things a certain way.

Everyone around here remains pretty civil as long as they aren't continually insulted. Just my .02. I really don't mind if we have a member that lives in or is from another country, the more the merrier and I think it's a strength to have a diverse background of people including their thoughts into this forum. Just keep the cut downs out of the posts.

Islander, I like your boat. Those were cool pictures.
