To not have one in that circumstance is just plain dumb.

Like I said - you can sleep happy with your $2 toggle switch - but if a theif REALLY wants your truck and hauls it away on the back of a tow truck - exactly what are you going to do again?
Ahhh...yes..I love being told I am dumb, ignorant, and a loser first thing in the morning.

I'd like to see someone get a tow truck on my property and my truck loaded up before they end up with a shotgun up their @ss.

That's a little unrealistic don't you think?

Speaking of bad ideas. Yeah let me turn my daughters car off at 80 mph. No brakes or steering. Hummm does that sound like a good idea to you?

In Michigan, one of the big car dealers had these black box in the cars they sold to high risk loans.. They were able to do just that, it was something like 4 days past bill pay day. they would shut the car off. That dealership is no longer is buisness. For you foot ball fans, it was Mel Far, the super Star

Nope

Re: sounds like he sells them type comments!

Nope - don't have any association with the company these days (other than I still own one of their units protecting my valuable asset)!!
I live on a fricken sandbar in the middle of the indian ocean - who exactly do you think I would be selling them too, passing whale pods??

Re: shutting off the engine, they might crash type comments -

Again didn't bother to read the website, if you had, wouldn't have made such a stoopid comment because it clearly states that an out of fuel scenario is duplicated electronically to get the driver to gradually pull to the breakdown lane as the car gradually loses power as if running out of fuel.

Re: No ones gonne get a tow truck onto my property without a shotgun up their azz type comments:

Your truck never gets parkled anywhere but your property?? - yeah - right...good for you!

Look if you can't afford one - thats fine by me, but if you can and don't then thats different...specially when often times your insurer rebate will pay for the unit over a period of time. You can transfer the unit between vehicles if you update frequently, and a 5 year period means you would have more than one car - no problem the same unit can protect the next vehicle and the next etc!

I answered the question about theft deterrent - if some don't like my opinion - thats fine.

Whatever happened to "i may not agree with yourt opinion but would fight to the death to preserve your right to express it"...

I guess the values America was once proud of (free speech) are dissapearing rapidly these Gee Dubya days, along with your economy and quite frankly rapidly diminishing respect among the worlds nations. Maybe time you got back to some of the core values that made your nation once great! (like your constitution, and amendement rights and so on, things your forebears died to bequeth to you, but that appear to be largely abandoned these days under the excuseof "terrorism").

If you feel my words were applicable to you - then - you have my sympathies.

If you see an answer to the problem, that you'd like to avail yourself of but cannot for whatever reason - don't shoot the messenger - the question was asked and I answered it. No one else provided the information that I did - and theres just a chance one day someone who CAN afford it or NEED it & DOES want that level of protection, will use a search engine and find that advice.

If you think the advice doesn't apply to you - then fine - ignore it!
No loss to me either way! Install a toggle switch and sleep safe for all I care, while your vehicle is rolled out the driveway, or towed, or otherwise stolen. Whats the %age population firearm ownership in USA?...and how many F Trucks are stolen each year?... I bet a lot of those owners all had firearms too, but it didn't stop their trucks being stolen.

Anyone who quotes me out of context and then applies that argument, to the greater board membership in order to garner support for their unsustainable position - obviously aint the sharpest tool in the shed, is likely just looking for trouble, and probably not worth the bandwidth to try and educate about this issue in the first place wwith any kind of informative or rational discussion.

Get a life is my advice! I'm done!

Cheers!

Okay, we can discuss the topic without the diatribe and political rants, guys.

Please just stick to the topic.

Thanks!

Your right Ryan. The reason I didn't read the information on the site is because I am not going to buy it, so no need.

So, what do you do if you live on a sand bar and have internet access to a truck forum?

Oh, we see.

Somehow, you don't seem very HAPPY living on this sand bar!

Since your vehicle obviously isn't going very far if it's taken, why do you bother with keeping the little black box around?

Breakdown lane? What is a breakdown lane? All we have back in the hills where I live are a few gravel shoulders, but mostly steep dropoffs into ditches. Sitting in the middle of the road with the car not running would not be cool.

Mike,

You are just sooooo primitive compared to the sandbar expressways!

I guess these things are waaaaay too sophisticated for us backward Americans!

Wow, so much for the friendly, supportive and useful forum...that this forum used to be. Gee, not so sure why the attacks had to come...but they came anyway??

The key point...is that thieves suck...they're most often opportunists and even though varying levels of prevention or "security" exist, at times we all are at risk of becoming a victim...even a fellow enthusiast on a sandbar in the middle of the Idian ocean.

Have a great week all...let's bitch about something more pressing...like the weather or fuel prices.
