They have bag races which is always funny, You have a navigator and the driver
wears a bag on his head and tries to make around the track!! Demo derbies, school
bus races which last year had the sheriff from seminole county fell out of the open
door and got run over and died it was for a charity event and now they don't do
that to raise money anymore!! They have races every saturday and across the
street they have the mud bog. There used to be a motocross track down the road
but it is now only open to the factories when they are down here for bike week.
I want to get into that outlaw racing since throwing a car sideways in the dirt is
the original form of drifting!!

We have Madras speedway here in Central Oregon. My grandkids race with the Portland Quarter Midgit Racing club at Apenrose Driay in Portland. My wife is team owner and my sons and I are drier handlers. The kids are from 5 years to 8 years old. The 8 year olds are twins and the 5 year old is a girl.

I forgot about Great Lakes Dragway, near the illinois border. The track became a NHRA strip last year, so hopefully it will be staying for a while. I love the fun nights. For $25 you can race all night long, any car , bike truck, sled. They even have a beat the heat night. You can race against a cop car. GOOD times.

We have two area tracks:
www.gatormotorplex.net
www.105speedway.net

Plus, a couple in nearby Houston, Tx.

I used to race every chance I got when I was younger, both drag racing and circle track. I raced the Sportsman class in the midwest in the early 60's, and did quite well at it. As my family increased, the racing took a back seat to providing for them, so I did not race for a long time.

The local track, 105 speedway opened again after changing ownership a couple of times, and I made the mistake of attending races again after a long absence. I got the bug again. 105 speedway has a new class for 12 to 15 year olds. They will compete in stock 4 cylinder cars. I have a granddaughter who will be 12 in June. I will have a car prepared for her. Hopefully, that will satisfy my racing urges. jd

The drag strips I know of in Minnesota are BIR Brainerd International Raceway (which I am sure is known since they have had nationals up there many times) about 2 1/2 - 3 hrs north of me and Grove Creek over west of the Twin cities near the South dakota & North dakota borders. Theres Rockfalls drag strip in Rockfalls wisconsin too but never been there yet.

I have 6 tracks within an hour and a half of me, 5 dirt oval and 1 asphalt oval. I help in the pits with 3 cars, 1 modified and 2 street/factory stocks. I absolutely love dirt racing, nothing like it. I haven't been to the asphalt track yet, because they just scraped the dirt off this year...

Heck, I go 200 yards, and I'm at my own track!!! 1/12 dirt oval we race go karts on. Started when I bought the kids a go kart , soon after the big kids got involved That evolved into Raptors and Animals being bought and tweeked, then lights and computerized timing and scoring. Now, 4 of my own karts later, it's time to finally get the kids one!

thats our dirt track. they run street stock, sportsman, open wheels, and late models usually. i help one of my buddies with his street stock, ford of course, but i just started helpin him at the end of last season so i don't know a whole lot about the racing and stuff but i was hooked after the first time!theres also a couple 1/8 mile drag strips pretty close and one 1/4 mile one about 60 miles away in bowling green, only been there once but it was pretty wicked too, espicially the top fuel cars.
